Tonight's Dinner Chicken tortellini with feta cream sauce
This is a simple and filling pasta dish that will be sure to make the whole family smile. Perfect for a cool summer night and packed full of iron-rich spinach and tangy rich feta cheese. If you cannot find chicken tortellini, cheese-filled tortellini or ravioli would work great, too.
Chicken tortellini with feta cream sauce recipeServes 2
Ingredients:1 (9 ounce) package chicken tortellini1 teaspoon olive oil1/2 cup sliced mushrooms3/4 cup half-and-half3/4 cup crumbled feta cheese1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese1/2 teaspoon oreganoFew cracks of fresh pepper2 handfuls of fresh spinachDirections:- Prepare a pot of water and put on the stove to boil.Once boiling add chicken tortellini. Cook for five to eight minutes and drain.Add olive oil to pan and cook on medium heat. Add mushrooms and saute until soft. Once soft take out of pan and set aside.Add half-and-half, feta cheese, Parmesan cheese, oregano and pepper to the same pan, cooking on medium heat. Heat until cheese is melted and sauce is thick, approximately 7 to 10 minutes. You want to whisk the sauce so it does not burn or scorch.Once sauce is thick, take off the heat and add cooked tortellini, mushrooms and handfuls of fresh spinach. Toss together to combine. The heat of the sauce and pasta will help wilt the spinach.

Tonight's Dinner Chicken tater casserole
A Great CrustChicken pot pie is a great way to use up extra chicken. But if you're looking for something the kids will love too, why not top that pie with tater tots instead of a crust for a delicious dinner everyone will love.
When I have extra chicken, I look for any way I can to use it up before it goes bad. Sometimes I'll make chicken pot pie. Sometimes I'll make chicken quesadillas, or if it's warm, I'll cut up some fruit and make a chicken salad. But my favorite is without question chicken pot pie. I love mixing the chicken with my favorite vegetables and covering it all with a yummy crust. So whenever I find a twist on this classic, I can't wait to try it out. When Taste of Home suggested putting the pie in a casserole dish and topping it with tater tots, I knew it was going to be awesome. And I was right. I still got the delicious chicken and veggie filling i love so much, but now I got to put one of my favorite side dishes on top, too.
Chicken tater casseroleIngredients:1 can of condensed cream of chicken soup1/4 cup of milk2 tablespoons butter1-1/2 cups cooked chicken, cut into 1-inch cubes1 (10 ounce) package frozen peas and carrots, thawed1 cup shredded cheddar cheese1 package frozen tater totsDirections:- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.In a medium sauce pan, combine the soup, milk and butter. In a pickle What to do if you stain your clothing while cooking
cry over spilled sauce
Cooking can be a complete hazard for our clothes. As careful as you are, all it takes is for something to spill or sauce to splatter for the damage to be done. If you're in the middle of making dinner you don't have a lot of time, but there are some great quick fixes for even the harshest of stains.
Even aprons can't protect against every kitchen spill. No matter what the disaster, a few household items that you probably have on hand can make a world of difference and save the day.
Tomato sauceScrape away any remaining tomato sauce and carefully turn the garment inside out. Run cold water with a good amount of pressure through the stain (you want the water on the opposite side of the stain) until it is mostly out. Mix together distilled white vinegar or lemon juice with a bit of water and rub the stain with the mixture until removed.
More wine stain removal tips >>Red wineWhether you are cooking with wine or enjoying a glass while you make dinner, spills happen. Immediately soak a paper towel with seltzer and dab the stain. Pour salt generously over the stain (you may need to take off the garment for this one) and allow it to sit for at least 10 minutes. Scrape off the salt and rinse under very hot water, then wash as usual. This works for beet and dark fruit stains too!
Chocolate or coffeeCarefully scrape away the chocolate (if applicable) and immediately rinse under very hot water. Rub with cornstarch or baking soda until the stain is gone. If that doesn't work, rub with stain remover or regular detergent and allow to soak for 10 to 20 minutes before rinsing and washing as usual.
GreaseGrease stains can be tricky business, but never fear. Lay the garment flat and cover in baby powder, which should help to absorb the grease. Using a paper towel or cloth, vigorously rub the baby powder then wipe it away. Repeat a few times until the stain is gone. If it is still visible, try rubbing it with a paste made from baking soda and water.

Ingredients for homemade taste
Without The HassleJust about everything tastes better homemade. After working and running errands day after day, though, ordering in a pizza seems pretty tempting. You can have the best of both worlds: Just add a few tasty ingredients to your quick dishes to make them taste like you put hours of love into them. Here’s how to get that homemade taste without the homemade time. Cream of mushroom soup
Move over, chicken noodle: This is the most versatile soup in the pantry. You can eat it on its own or pour it over chicken for a nice, flavorful gravy. Mix it into mashed potatoes to give your spuds a bit more depth and pizazz. Its creamy, savory texture makes it the homestyle chameleon of your cabinet.
Packaged breadsAdding a can of packaged buns, rolls or biscuits to ordinary dishes makes for hearty, filling family meals. Try placing biscuits on top of your favorite casserole and baking them until golden brown; this gives you an instant side dish
PestoPesto is a signature Italian creation, and you can put it on just about anything. Get the right jarred pesto, and the possibilities are endless. Add it to sandwiches, soup, pasta and more for some zest in an otherwise mundane meal.
EggsYou can use eggs in just about anything. Adding scrambled eggs to any meal is a protein-packed way to put a dash of quick, homemade flavor in pasta, casseroles and more. Plus, scrambled eggs take only about seven minutes on a stovetop.
Frozen hash brownsNothing is quite like waking up early on a Sunday and having your grandmother cook you a full breakfast of homemade eggs, bacon and hash browns. Buying the tasty potatoes in the frozen food aisle isn't a sin, though. In fact, it will save you a considerable amount of time. Eat them alone, or use them in Southern-inspired meals. When it comes to potatoes, the variations are plentiful. These might just be the tastiest of them all.

Learn how to make the perfect low carb margarita >>My personal margarita love affairI got married when I was 20. My parents hosted a beautiful wedding for us. It was perfect and classy, but you can bet your bottle of Cuervo we had a Margarita machine at the reception. True, at 20 I'd barely graduated from Boone's Farm, Aftershock and Bartles & Jaymes wine coolers (did I just admit that?), but I knew a good margarita.
My early love (of margaritas) was likely due to the fact that I attended a college that was located in close proximity to the Mexican border, back before passports were required to cross and well before you were playing a little game of, "Will I live to cross back or will I be killed?"
And while they weren't exactly serving up premium tequila to a bar full of drunken college students at Senor Frog's, trust me when I say that I came by my love of margaritas honestly.
Margaritas can be served many ways and with many flavors; there's surely one you will love. So, break out the blender or head to your favorite Mexican restaurant and celebrate National Margarita Day!

Sibling bullying hurts, too
Being bullied by a sibling can be just as damaging for a child as being bullied by another pupil at school, a new study says.
The study links bullying to increased depression, anxiety and anger in children. Scientists say bullying includes physical and psychological actions, along with property damage. The study is published in the July issue of Pediatrics.
In recent years, bullying at school or by peers has taken the national spotlight. But sibling bullying has not, and has often been viewed as normal behavior.
Corinna Jenkins Tucker, an associate professor of family studies at the University of New Hampshire in Durham, said the study indicates "sibling aggression is linked to worse mental health [for the victim], and in some cases it's similar to what you find for peer aggression."
Tucker and her team examined data on about 3,600 kids under the age of 17 from the National Survey of Children's Exposure to Violence. The four types of bullying were mild physical assault, severe physical assault, property victimization and psychological aggression.
Mental health distress scores were higher in children than in adolescents for those who experienced a mild physical assault, but kids and teens were similarly affected by the other forms of bullying, Tucker said. Children who reported just one type of aggression in the past year had a higher distress score than those who did not experience bullying by a sibling.
Moms, this officially puts you on referee duty at home — as if you weren't already.
